The position attracts 0.5 release time, above the normal release time.The seniority of the position necessitates that the incumbent may be required to be present on the campus before and beyond the regular timetabled day and sometimes during non-term time.  This position also has an after-hours componentDuties and ResponsibilitiesCurriculum -  Oversee the teaching of Australian Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework PreK-2, including all Learning Areas, General Capabilities and the Cross-curriculum priorities and curriculum renewal.Learning Innovation – Lead the implementation of best practice in education in literacy, numeracy and other key innovation projects.Pedagogy Leader – Support staff in the application of best practice in pedagogy, as a member of the Learning and Teaching team, developing the whole school approach of the "Burgmann Keys". Working RelationshipsThe Director of Learning Innovation PreK-2 works closely with all PreK-2 teachers in ensuring the implementation of the full learning and teaching program.They report to the Head of Junior School and then the Principal. They work closely with the Junior School Leadership team, including the Deputy Head of Junior School, Leader of Inclusion and Director of Learning Innovation 3-5.They also work closely with the Deputy Principal (Learning and Teaching) and are a member of the Learning and Teaching team.Position ResponsibilitiesCurriculumEnsure the implementation of the Australian Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework YPre K-2, across all Learning areas, and Christian LivingEnsure the development of the seven general capabilities across the Pre K-2 learning areas, including Critical and Creative thinking, digital literacy, ethical understanding, intercultural understanding, literacy, numeracy and the Personal and Social CapabilityEnsure the Scope and Sequence of the Curriculum (including all three areas) is developmentally appropriate and builds on learning in Pre Kindergarten and provides a seamless transition to Year 3.Oversee the Cross-curriculum priorities, ensuring that they are incorporated across the Pre K-2 learning areas, providing diverse opportunities to enrich the learning experience for students.Ensure appropriate, rigorous and consistent assessment practices across the Pre K-2 classes, and support the Deputy Head of Junior School in providing quality assurance on academic reporting across Pre K-2.Support staff in ensuring that the needs of diverse learners are met, working with the Leader of Inclusion and Enrichment staff as appropriate.Provide key communication for parents, including leading information sessions, organising parent events, and supporting the Deputy Head of Junior School as required with Pre K-2 eventsProvide recommendations and supervision of the budget for PreK-2, including recommendations for new programs and resources, that align with the School’s Strategic directionMaintain accurate and up to date records of student learning data, including working with the Learning and Teaching Team to track whole of school academic data and identify areas of need.Work with the Junior School Leadership team in supporting transition and class placement processes. Learning InnovationLead the implementation of best practice in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy Pre K-2.Inspire innovative practices across Pre K-2, that elevate the learning experienceIn consultation with the Head of Junior School, develop and lead innovative projects, particularly those that help to realise the Strategic direction of the School.Develop strong partnerships in learning between parents, teachers and students, including through the establishment of continual feedback and reporting practicesDevelop strong, data-driven practices, building capacity of staff to use data to promote best practicePromote innovation in providing for diverse learners.Work with the Deputy Principal (Wellbeing), to ensure the articulation and realisation of the Wellbeing Progressions across the Pre K-2 learning areas.Pedagogy LeaderSupport the team leaders in the development of all aspects of the Pre K-2 curriculum, including social-emotional programs, camps, transition and excursionsBe an active member of the Learning and Teaching CommitteeIdentify and develop best practice in pedagogy, including through the Burgmann KeysSupport staff in the development of personal plans and structures to support students with complex learning needsContribute to the Professional Learning of staff, including through the Junior School Staff Meetings and provide recommendations for Whole School Professional LearningWork closely with the School Leadership teams to maintain the focus and development of the Junior School as a professional learning community of the highest quality.Where appropriate, support and supervise the Accreditation requirements for ISTAA and TQI, with support from the Deputy Principal, Learning and Teaching.Selection CriteriaThe successful applicant will:Be a qualified teacher, and preferably have completed some further studyHave experience in the implementation of innovative teaching and learning practices, including in change management strategiesHave knowledge and experience in best practice in teaching and learning Pre
